Soccer will take center stage across Canada this upcoming weekend in various areas across the country.

It’s reported for the past 13 months that 640 registered and participating clubs have been narrowed down to 66 finalists confirmed for this year’s Toyota National Championships scheduled for 3-8 October.

One hundred fifty-three matches will be played across six competitions with the 2018 amateur national champions to be crowned over Thanksgiving weekend in Laval, QC, Surrey, BC, and Saskatchewan, SK.

Sportswave has received the following information from Soccer Canada regarding the upcoming event this weekend and we urge everyone to take in some of the game action.

The competition crowns champions in U-15 Boys and Girls, U-17 Boys and Girls and senior amateur Men’s and Women’s competitions culminating with Teck Finals Day on Monday, 8 October.

“The Toyota National Championships is Canada’s marquee annual team sport event providing meaningful soccer competition to thousands of players from coast-to-coast-to-coast,” said Canada Soccer General Secretary Peter Montopoli. “Both on and off the pitch, the development of coaches, officials and administrators through the collaboration with our Provincial and Territorial Member Associations makes this an important milestone every year in our country.”

More than 12,000 players, coaches, and officials took part in the qualifying competitions, with 640 teams registered in provincial and territorial competitions kicking off in British Columbia in September 2017 and culminating with Teck Finals Day.

U-15 Cup in Laval, QC

There are 24 teams competing in the U-15 Cup, with 12 in the Boys Championship and 12 in the Girls Championship.

Teams have been divided into four groups of three teams, with teams progressing through quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the championship final on Monday 8 October. Both championship finals will be streamed live on canadasoccer.com with the Girls Final at 11.00 ET / 08.00 PT (11.00 local) and the Boys Final at 11.00 ET / 08.00 PT (11.00 local).

There are 24 teams competing in the U-17 Cup, with 12 in the Boys championship and 12 in the Girls championship.

Teams have been divided into four groups of three teams, with teams playing crossover matches for final standings on the last day of the competition.

There are 10 Men’s teams competing in the Challenge Trophy Finals and 8 Women’s teams competing in the Jubilee Trophy Finals.

The men’s championship has been divided into two groups of five teams while the women’s championship has been divided into two groups of four teams.

Both championship finals will be streamed live on canadasoccer.com with the Jubilee final at 15.30 ET / 12.30 PT (12.30 local) on Saturday, 7 October and the Challenge Final on Sunday, 8 October at 16.00 ET / 13.00 PT (13.00 local).
