Sharks Re-Sign Richmond MHA Player

OK – so he was born in Richmond but grew up in Surrey, playing minor hockey in various arena’s around the lower mainland as well as travelled to various tournaments.

He is now married and he now has two Son’s who naturally idolize Dad, but more important – love hockey.

scott rocketHe was selected in the first round (23rd overall) of the 97 Entry Draft by the Sharks coming out of Major Junior with the Rockets in Kelowna 23rd overall.

His pro debut was at the start of the 99 season with the Sharks, playing in five games then he was returned to Kelowna for his final year of Junior hockey.

The 35 year-old Hannan has appeared in 997 career NHL games with San Jose, Colorado, Washington, Calgary, and Nashville, notching 210 points (36 goals, 174 assists), a plus-two rating and 599 penalty minutes.

In 100 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has added 21 points (one goal, 20 assists), a +15 rating and 93 penalty minutes.

He split the 1992000 season (his full pro season) with the Sharks and the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the AHL.

Hannan played his 500th NHL game at the end of the 2006–07 season in a 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on March 18, 2007.

He signed a four-year, $18 million contract with the Colorado Avalanche July 1/07 and November 30, 2010, he was traded to the Washington Capitals for Tomas Fleischmann.

August 13/11 he was signed by the Flames as a free agent to a one-year, $1 million contract.

April 3, 2013 he returned to the Sharks via a trade in exchange for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2013 Draft.

He became an UFA following season’s end, and on July 5, 2013 he resigned with the Sharks on a one-year deal.

Not bad for a Richmond/Surrey boy!!!
