The $200,000 Odlum Brown VanOpen presented by Miele is expected to draw its most competitive field ever in 2015 after moving the tournament dates two weeks later than traditionally held.
The 14th edition of the Odlum Brown VanOpen runs from Saturday, August 15 – Sunday, August 23, 2015.
Despite long-running schedule conflicts that saw it compete for players with as many as four other tournaments being held at the same time, the Odlum Brown VanOpen is the largest Challenger tournament in the world.
“Every year, we look for ways to make our event bigger and better. By moving to a later date in August, we’re now closer to the US Open and players from around the world looking for a high-calibre warm-up event will turn their attention to the Odlum Brown VanOpen,” explained Tournament Underwriter and Chairman Floyd Hill. ”
“Additionally, our new spot on the calendar means our wild card spots will be more in-demand, allowing us to attract an extremely strong field of players.”
The new tournament dates also means that fans have more opportunity to see rising Canadian tennis stars, who now have the chance to play in the two largest tournaments in their home country.
“When our qualifying is just starting, the Rogers Cup in Toronto and Montreal will be into its final weekend, which means that up-and-coming Canadian players can now head west right afterwards and come play in the Odlum Brown VanOpen,” added Tournament Director Ryan Clark.
