Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is excited to announce an update to the conference’s online streaming, partnering with Yare Media (Yare) on a multi-year deal, beginning in the 2019-20 season.

Yare is a streaming media company, headquartered in Surrey, B.C. and founded by seasoned media veterans, who has maintained successful partnerships with the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling; Canadian Football League International Service; Professional Fighters League; and Canada West, the second largest of the four U SPORTS conferences comprised of 17 member institutions.

For the past five years, OUA.tv has provided fans an online platform to access football, basketball, hockey, and a host of championship offerings from across the province, which is an endeavour that the organization will look to evolve throughout this new partnership.

With yare stemming from the notion of being ready, prepared, active, and quick – notions that the media company has extended into their product – they should be tremendous assets in taking OUA.tv to the next level.

“We are very excited to be partnering with the preeminent University Sport Conference in Canada,” stated Hugh Dobbie, Yare Media CEO. “Technology continues to radically change the way university sports are being produced and distributed. The new OUA.tv service will showcase student-athlete events using adaptive bitrate video technologies to eliminate buffering and provide higher quality viewing experiences across multiple device types.”

Since the launch of OUA.tv in 2014, the platform has been the go-to resource for fans to tune in to university sport in Ontario, and after streaming upwards of 1,200 events during the 2018-19 season, there are no signs of slowing down.

“With hundreds of streamed events throughout the year, spanning regular season games, playoffs, and championships, the ability to provide the best quality streaming service is imperative to the continued growth and success of the conference’s online platform,” said Gord Grace, OUA CEO. “Yare has shown that they can help our organization take those next steps and we are excited to work with Hugh [Dobbie] and his team to make that a reality for our viewers.”

Fans will get their first taste of live-game action on the new and improved platform when the 2019-20 season gets underway on the weekend of August 24.

But with a new look and feel in place already, there is plenty to explore heading into the new season, so visit oua.tv to see more.
