It seems that change comes when we least expect it and one change that many thought wasn’t going to happen was the re-opening of Splashdown Park in Tsawwassen.

Well – let’s not get overly excited as it’s not going to re-open tomorrow especially given the recent weather we have been dealt with, but it will happen and apparently in the future – sometime, just not sure when.

It’s a fixture that is well used by not only Delta residents but by others from various areas of the lower mainland, the Province and elsewhere.

I am hearing that a local Vancouver-based hotel chain is making plans on a possible renovation and also re-opening the waterpark, quite possibly as soon as this summer.

The park closed it’s doors in September 2016 following the expiration of its lease and over it’s 33 years it’s reported to have hosted 80,000 to 100,000 people annually.

The “newly renovated park”, I am hearing will be re-named The Big Splash Waterpark, and it’s reported that renovations are currently underway, at least according to Executive Hotels & Resorts.

It’s reported that the hotel chain signed a 99-year lease on the 20-acre property and plans to develop a hotel adjacent to the park as well that will open in 2019.

Here’s hoping for a HOT SUMMER IN 2017!!!
