A comeback fight that was to be one of the biggest paydays for 29 year-old Ronda Rousey, but was abruptly stopped by Referee Herb Dean 48 seconds into the first round of the Bantamweight UFC 207 match.

This was Rousey’s return match following a 13-month absence from the ring and from the opening bell, she never gained control.

Rousey isn’t one to participate a pre-match build-up and this was no different to the pre-fight media obligations taking part ahead of the UFC 207 main event bout against Brazil’s Amanda Nunes.

No one had heard much from Rousey camp since her loss devastating loss to Holly Holm last November, but this was to be different.

Apparently confidence can be a down-fall for many an athlete and in a case such as this one might caulk it up to over confidence or simply a cocky attitude.

Rousey has emerged as one of the biggest MMA stars managing a record of 12-2 and quite possibly to many a trailblazer in the world of female sports athletes.

It  certainly helped her with a younger fan base and while she simply was unable to compete in her first fight since her loss to Holly  Holm 13 months ago, she at least showed up, but not necessarily taking home the belt.

In a earlier press release she stated “I need to take some time to reflect and think about the future. Thank you for believing in me and understanding.”

We are hearing that all the blame can’t be put on Ronda, but more on her coach as he (Edmond Tarverdyan) caught most of the heat for her loss.

The current UFC fighter Jake Ellenberger saw his career stall with a weak run littered with defeats under coach Tarverdyan, before switching to a new coach.

Another fighter that trained under Tarverdyan is Travis Browne (Rousey’s boyfriend) who has gone 2-4 in his last six fights.

The only wins come against the now-retired Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione, who is no longer with the UFC.

Let’s not forget that Ronda was an Olympic Judo Bronze medalist and used this to help with her career in the MMA.

Let’s see when she will return?
