Would you be foolish enough to fight if you were offered a purse for a million dollars or more with a world class fighter?

Some might – others would back off the initial request, but when it came to the challenge dating back to July, 2015 when Conan O’Brien asked McGregor if he would ever take on  Mayweather in a boxing match, the reply was “Duh! If you’re asking would I like to fight Floyd Mayweather, I mean, who would not like to dance around the ring for $180 million? If we were to get it on, I would most certainly dismantle him also.” For more information on bad credit loans take a look at this site.

Fast forward to May 2016 and the rumors started to swirl about a “billion dollar” fight and being realistic, it’s reported that Mayweather started the initial discussion.

A short 11 days later Mayweather put out the challenge for the offer to McGregor of $50 million for the fight to take place.

Conversations went back and forth, probably promoted and discussed by their managers and eventually McGregor obtained his boxing license in California November 30, 2016 and this is where all the excitement started.

Discussion went back and forth and it wasn’t until January 11 that Mayweather offered McGregor $15 million and stated “I’m pretty sure he has never made $10 million in any MMA bout, but two day’s later UFC President Dana White offered each fighter $25 million, in what Mayweather called a joke, referring to the offer.

In an interview with FightHype McGregor came more of a household name for knocking out Aldo in just 13 seconds followed by comments in which the American argued that he would never receive such a praise due to the colour of his skin.

McGregor mentioned I am an Irishman. My people have been oppressed our entire existence. And still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling that is deep in my blood … If you want we can organise a fight no problem. I will give you a fair 80/20 split purse in my favour seen as your last fight bombed at every area of revenue.”

From here the fight for the fight was put on fast-forward and in May McGregor mentioned that he had signed his half of the agreement and on June 14th it was made official.

Both made it public by way of social media, interviews and various individuals that they had set the date of August 26th for the fight, which set in place one of the longest “days of our lives” series in the history of combat sport.

One might say “money  talks” and why not – would you fight either fighter for $25 million?
