Summer is a time to get on the road and enjoy what Canada has to offer, so why not be a tourist in your own country such as the group below.

We are going to follow them on their journey, so enjoy the read that good friend Lamont French is sending over.

Meet & Greet / Silent Auction and BBQ

Well folks the day had come upon us and we are in full “Go” mode. The 10th annual Military Police National Motorcycle Relay has officially started its National Portion.

At 1300 hrs, our Team BC Ride Coordinator escorted all our National Riders, BC Riders and friends down to the front steps of the BC Legislature Bldg to enjoy Town Crier “BOB” once again for his annual proclamation.

Bob has done this since the start back in 2009 and it means a great deal that he could do one more for us.

After meeting the nice visitors to Victoria, the group was lead to Mile 0 and the West Coast tribute to Terry Fox. Our riders had their pictures taken at both locations as we will be visiting the main Terry Fox tribute in Thunder Bay and again in St/ John’s NL.

Where we will again pose with Mile 0 East.

Off to the annual dipping of the tires in the Pacific Ocean, which late will finalize with the same in the Atlantic.

Our volunteers and riders worked hard setting up for the evening. Collecting donations, 50/50, rider registration, Silent Auction and BBQ we had what we believed over 100 people attend.

A great showing indeed. VIPs from the MPs, recipients of the MPFBC and our annual bike/rider blessing we had a very successful evening.

I am going to keep everyone in suspense as to our totals for a couple of reasons:

  1. I was too tired to bother counting and roll all the money;
  2. I wanted to have something to do when I came back;
  3. It was too much work for me tonight………………….and I have too much to worry about for the start in the morning and I need to pack the Big Yellow Bike as well.
  4. But most of all maybe I am hanging on to something as this is my last time doing this…..who knows (maybe the Shadow).

On a personal note as the National Chair and BC Rep not to mention being the founding member of Team BC back in 2009, I need to say thank you to all who have stepped up over the years here in BC to keep this thing going and to be ever so successful.

It is because of you all (and there are too many to list or name in fear I will miss someone, but you know who you are). From me to you all, a huge thank you.

On that final note, I would be remiss if I did not thank Sarah for attending and speaking on behalf of our friend Joe. Joe as you know was to ride as a National Rider only to have that dream taken away with his untimely and tragic accident. Had the lakeland car accident lawyer, who had handled the accident, not informed me about the accident, I would have missed being with Joe in his last moments.

But his memory will live on as we take “Our Joe” with us along the ride this year as my personal ride buddy to complete this one item he so dearly wanted to do.

Thank you all and see you tomorrow morning.
