As the NHL takes it’s annual All-Star break it allows teams to rest injured players as well as  refocus on the remainder of the season, but this year see’s the 62nd All-Star game once again played at the Staples Center in LA.

It’s the third time that the Los Angeles Kings are hosting such a prestigious event, with the first dating back to 2002.

It get’s down to fan voting and this year the 2017 All-Star game will continue to use the 3 on 3 tournament that was introduced in 2016.

It will be a single-elimination tournament with each game consisting of two 10-minute halves played 3-on-3 which will go to a shootout if tied after 20 minutes of play.

Playing in Hollywood means style and this year see’s one player add a unique twist to the game, where he add’s a Hollywood theme to what he brings to the event.

Coyote’s “tender” Mike Smith is representing the Pacific Division recently displayed his mask he is using in the game.

It’s set on the theme of what Hollywood means around the world or at least in the US, when we hear about that part of LA, so the mask is fitting to the area.

The mask fits the “Hockey Goes Hollywood” tagline by featuring several big-screen stars of yesteryear and you just know that he’ll be the talk of the town.

To date no other mask has been shown to the media and how it will embrace the LA area and Hollywood.

It’ll be interesting to see what any other “tender” does?

The game will be broadcast by NBC which marks the All-Star game’s return to network TV for the first time since 2004.

To add Canadian content to the game the NHL has added the All-American Girl Group Fifth Harmony and Mission BC’s Carly Rae Jepsen will sing both the US and Canadian National Anthems, with Nick Jonas performing during the intermission.
