Championships 4 Water Polo

Vancouver’s Pacific Storm won Gold at the 16U Boys’ and Girls’ National Club Championships in Surrey and Langley to caputure the overall title.

The 16U Boys National Championship was held at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre on Fraser Highway which saw Guelan Patterson and Austin Brimm scoring three goals each to lead the Pacific Storm PSSK to a 9-5 victory over the number-one seed Dollard Water Polo Club in the final championship game.

Also scoring for the third-seeded Storm were Lucas Greavan, Sean Spooner and Sever Topan. Ryan Dumont replied three times for Dollard.

The Calgary Torpedoes Gold took the bronze, the Ottawa Titans were fourth followed in order by Laval, Edmonton Tsunami, Montreal’s Club CAMO, Fraser Valley Water Polo Club, Dollard 2, Toronto’s York Mavericks, Dollard 3, Team Saskatchewan, Hamilton Aquatic Club, Saanich Water Polo School, Pacific Storm Black, Calgary Torpedoes Black and Fraser Valley 2.

Brimm was named tournament MVP, Jeff Wiggins of Dollard the most valuable goalie and Nikola Maric of Pacific Storm PSSK the most valuable coach.

All star team members were Patterson, Ryan Dumont and Chris Callard of Dollard, Oscar Henning of Calgary Torpedoes Gold, Victor Gomeluk of the Ottawa Titans and Aleksander Pupovac of Edmonton Tsunami.

At the 16U Girls National Club Championships held at the Walnut Grove Community Centre, Domia Momen scored five times to lead the third-seed Pacific Storm to an11-5 victory over the number-one and two-time defending champion Calgary Renegades Gold in the final.
Marianne Tout and Jocelyn McQuade added two each and Manon Fraser and Hayley McKelvey one apiece. Kindred Paul and Zoe Osborne each scored twice for Calgary.
Dollard Water Polo Club defeated CAMO 10-6 in the bronze medal game. Fraser Valley was fifth followed in order by Ottawa Titans, Team Saskatchewan, Pacific Storm 2, Scarborough Shadow, Winnipeg Bushido, Edmonton Capitals, Hamilton, Saanich, and Fraser Valley 2.

Momen was named the tournament MVP, Alicia Magliocco of Dollard the most valuable goalie and Kalee Harris of Pacific Storm the most valuable coach.

All star team members were McKelvey, Paul, Osborne, Taylor Vijh of Dollard, Elena Barri of CAMO and Danika Kotylak of Fraser Valley.
