Adam Rahier Grabs Silver

Port Moody’s Adam Rahier helped Canada nail Silver in the men’s 4X200 freestyle relay plus Bronze in the 100 backstroke at the Global Games multi sport competition.

The swimming competition at the Global Games features athletes in the S14 disability category (intellectual disability) as they tune-up for next year’s Paralympic Games in London.

In the men’s 4X200 freestyle relay, Rahier, Michael Heath of Woodstock, Maxime Rouselle of St. Alexandre and Mike Qing of Regina combined forces for the Canadian medal.

In the men’s 100 backstroke, two Japanese swimmers finished of Rahier who just over a second off the second place finisher clocking 1:06.84.

Rahier is Canada’s most successful swimmer so far at the competition with three medals.

Other Canadian finalists were Qing and Heath, fifth in the 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke respectively.

Qing was also sixth in the 100 butterfly, Maxime Rouselle of St-Alexandre, seventh in the 100 butterfly and Kirstie Kasko of Okotoks placed seventh in the women’s 100 backstroke and eighth in the 100 freestyle.

After three days of competition, Canada has five medals (one gold, a silver and three bronze).
