With the Minto Cup kicking off at the Langley Event Centre those in attendance will have the luxury to watch the Orangeville Northmen take on the Victoria Shamrocks.
Orangeville has the luxury of being the home team due to finishing first overall in the round robin which finished two days prior.
While this is making news, it’s nice to hear that the two-time defending Canada West champions, the UBC are listed as favorites to repeat as Canada West men’s soccer champions ahead of Friday’s season opener

The UBC Thunderbirds are the favourites to repeat as an annual coaches poll was unveiled ahead of this week’s season opener games.

UBC enters the 2019 season as the unanimous pick to (again) topping the conference managing to secure 12 first-place votes from conference Head Coaches.

UBC’s first-place vote went to the Trinity Western Spartans who had 124 points who were listed third in the poll, narrowly behind the Alberta Golden Bears who had 126 points.

T-Birds Head Coach Mike Mosher are focused on grabbing a third consecutive Canada West banner; something that has not been accomplished since Trinity Western University won a trio of titles between 2005 and 2007.

The 2019season kicks off Friday (August 23rd) with a total of five (5) games, which are webcast live on Canada West TV.
