Top-ranked Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League club Burnaby Lake (12-1) stretched their win streak to nine games on Saturday afternoon, downing no.7 Vancouver Rowing Club by a score of 29-0.

Having already locked up first place and a home semifinal match, Burnaby didn’t miss a beat, hitting their stride after a 10-0 half time score to punch in another three tries for the bonus point as they dropped the Rowers to 5-8 on the season.
Burnaby have remained focused down the stretch as they continue their drive towards the playoffs.
League-leading scorer Geoff Ryan notched the first points with a penalty early in the first half, putting his side up 3-0.
Played in heavy rain, the clash saw little scoring until just before half time when Burnaby centre James Reekie found space and darted through the defence for a try. Ryan added the extras and Burnaby led 10-0 at the break.
Burnaby’s next tries came courtesy of full back Cole McQueen and winger Matt Alexander. Ryan converted both scores for a 24-0 lead.
As the Rowers defence began to falter, Burnaby recorded their fourth try in the closing minutes.
A deep kick into the Rowers’ half was kicked out by their winger under pressure and Burnaby pounced on the opportunity. A quick line out was thrown into Reekie who sliced through the defence and off-loaded to a rumbling Luca.
The Captain took down two tacklers before off-loading to back rower Gurvinder Kalar who crashed over for the bonus point score.
Burnaby will now set their sights on the April 12th regular season finale when they head to the North Shore to take on the only team to blemish their near perfect record.
Capilano (7-6) will be looking to bounce back next week after suffering a 43-7 loss to reigning Rounsefell Cup champions James Bay AA (9-4) on Saturday. The loss dropped Capilano to fourth place as they now trail no.3 Castaway Wanderers (8-5) by two points in the standings.
CW were convincing winners at home, producing a 34-7 bonus point win over Meraloma (0-13).
The Oak Bay-based outfit are currently holding down third in the standings which could mean a semifinal clash with Island rivals James Bay instead of traveling to Burnaby in the playoffs.
The UBCOB Ravens produced an impressive 29-24 bonus point victory over the UVic Vikes (5-7) at Wallace Field. The Ravens still trail Capilano by five points, however, heading into the final round of games.
Ravens and Capilano split their 2013-14 series with a win a piece.
