Roughnecks Hammer Stealth

The Vancouver Stealth took there show on the road to Calgary and not only the weather wasn’t good for them, they got hammered by a strong Roughnecks club 20-9.

roughnecksThe Stealth have a record now of 3-7 while the Roughnecks are getting strong production from Shawn Evans who grabbed 12 points on the night, which 11,162 supporters saw him notch his 600th career point.

The team broke several records which including Calgary’s first 20 goal performance at home dating back to March 31, 2007.

The Roughnecks utilized nine separate goal scorers in this contest that included markers from Dane Dobbie (4+3), Geoff Snider (3+2), Curtis Dickson (3+2), and Jeff Shattler (2+6).

The most productive effort by Calgary came in the third quarter, where they managed to pick up three goals in 27 seconds, which is the fastest trio of consecutive goals by an NLL team dating back to January 2010.

In addition this is a Roughnecks franchise record and it should be noted that the latter two goals of that stretch came just four seconds apart. Yes – FOUR SECONDS!!

Vancouver’s biggest offensive power strike came from Tyler Digby (1+2), Lewis Ratcliff (2+2), Cody Bremner (1+0), and Brett Bucktooth (3+1), that included seeing Rhys Duch (0+4) add four helpers in the loss for the Stealth.

Calgary managed to get three separate five-goal runs with one coming in the 4th quarter sealing the victory for the Roughnecks.

Discipline was a key factor for both teams in the game, which was a surprise as the first penalties were not called until the 4:27 mark of the third quarter.

This was when Garrett McIntosh and Brett Bucktooth forced the officials hands and were assessed coincidental minors, and this helped Calgary go up 0-3 on the power-play, while the Stealth were held scoreless with the man-advantage on 1 attempt.

Roughnecks goaltenders Mike Poulin and Frankie Scigliano stopped 31 of 40 shots, while Tyler Richards and Matt Roik had a combined total of 36 saves for Langley’s Stealth.lacrosse girls in calgary
