Officiating is part of the sport that in today’s world seems to be extremely short of individuals who have the least interest in becoming all due to the abuse from “so called” fans that show not just respect for anyone being an official but also a lack of respect for the game.
It’s the ones that stay with their chosen sport and continue to officiate for years to come allowing the game to grow for the up and coming athletes who all start out at a young age in hopes of officiating at the highest level of the sport.
Achieving success at the highest level doesn’t come easy but takes not just hard work but also a dedication to become the best in the sport they choose to officiate.
Rugby is a sport in which not everyone understands the rules or even a small part of any rule but over time you’ll grasp the concept of how and why specific rules are enforced.
I hear from various individuals who officiate Rugby that if other sports would follow their program and teach officials it could and would strongly benefit other sports.
One area that there is zero tolerance is that of “Abuse of Officials” which has taken a no nonsense approach for any abuse even directed in the smallest way toward any official which is such a unique concept.
We want to congratulate the following officials who have been appointed by BC Rugby as the team of Officials appointed to oversee the 2025 Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs), taking place on July 5–6 at Shawinigan Lake School.
Thanks to BC Rugby for the info and enjoy the read:
Bringing together the top young rugby athletes from across British Columbia, the PRCs will once again be supported by a dedicated team of Officials tasked with maintaining safety, fairness, and integrity across all six divisions.
Of the 18 Officials appointed to oversee the event, there is a balanced blend of experience.
This includes returning senior officials with national and international experience, as well as rising stars from the BC Rugby Referee Development Pathway.
BC Rugby would like to extend sincere thanks to all appointed Match Officials for their commitment to the game, and to the Rugby Match Officials of BC (RMOSBC) for their continued partnership and support in delivering a safe and professional tournament environment.
The 2025 PRCs not only spotlight the future stars of Canadian rugby but also showcase the next generation of high-performance Officials. Congratulations to all those selected!
