If you’re one of the old school male chauvinist types that say’s sports can only be played by guy’s – think again!!

The final championship game for the 2017 Women’s Fastpitch at Softball City featured a display of impressive fast-pitch action supplied by Team Japan who is noted to have the best pitcher in the game.

They were facing team Australian team who had just finished a game not 30 minutes prior to this one and used it’s top line-up in order to advance against Japan.

The tournament features four (4) pools of teams with Japan placed in the A pool along with Mexico, NJCAA All-Stars and the Quebec Rebelles; while Australia was placed in the C pool along with Calahoo Erins, Team Canada Juniors and Venezuela.

Team Japan rested the number one pitcher Yukiko Ueno in likes of starting the number two player for the squad.

The bleachers was filled with strong supporters with Japanese nationality all sitting behind the team bench on the first base side of the diamond, while the “Aussies” had a strong following, just not as large.

Some were expecting a dominating game from Japan while others were cheering for the Aussies in hopes of seeing an upset in the making, but in the end Japan never disappointed anyone.

The game started out slow and with Team Japan coming off a Gold medal performance in Oklahoma one was expecting that they would “trample” any and all opposition.

The were in command from the opening pitch as the literally hammered all opposing teams outscoring all opponents by a 76-8 power punch.

Members of the media were wondering if they were indeed “up” to face Team Japan as they have (until then) been handed a whopping defeat at the hands; er bats of Japan by a 24-2 tally.

The first three innings were close with both having chances, but Japan’s were more quality than quantity chances, but Japan came to life in the top of the 4th and hammered ball after ball to the outfield trouncing the Aussies 7-1 to win the Championship.

Chances are the off-season should see possible changes to the Canadian roster, cause the end result is that Canada is no match for either team that played in the final of this year’s Canada Cup.
