Ironman Moving?

Tourism Whistler has announced Whistler will host the Ironman Canada race on August 25, 2013, but the announcement has not been confirmed by Ironman.

In a posting on the Whistler website, Tourism Whistler stated “Whistler’s natural beauty is the perfect setting for the race with winding mountain roads, sparkling lakes and mountain views all part of the unique and challenging course.”

Two other locations that were in the running were Kelowna and Huntsville to host the event following Penticton’s decision to let it go.

Ironman has not necessarily confirmed that Whistler will be the host city and have refused to return calls from various media outlet’s. A full announcement is expected in the next couple of day’s.

Ron Zalko, founder of the Penticton Ironman states “the announcement is not true.”

Zalko says he spoke with Andrew Messick, CEO of Ironman, who told him nothing is official yet and that a decision is still pending.
