Covering Rugby is something different for us at Sportswave, but once you’ve been to a match – you’re hooked.

This was received from HSBC Canada Sevens Organizing Committee where they officially announced that tickets are now on-sale of single day tickets for the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens at Westhills Stadium in Langford BC held May 27-28, 2017.

Single day tickets, priced at $40.00 plus fees, are available in sections “L” and “R” of the main grandstand, and can be purchased at www.canadasevens.com, along with remaining tournament passes.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as some sections of the stadium no longer have availability.

The release of single day tickets coincides with the recent launch of the Canadian Women’s Sevens ambassador program for KidSport, whereby the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens is donating $5 from every tournament pass sold using the code C7KIDSPORT to KidSport Greater Victoria.

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to kids to play sports, and proceeds from the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens tournament will be directed towards youth rugby programs in the Greater Victoria Area.

In its third year at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC, the HSBC Women’s Sevens will host 12 of the world’s best women’s sevens teams for the fifth stop on the six-event circuit of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series.

The tournament has capacity for 6430 over the two-day event, is a proven crowd favorite and draws rugby fans, families, and young developing rugby athletes who aspire to represent Canada one day on the world stage.

Canadian women are currently third in the overall standings heading into Langford, having finished sixth in Dubai, won in Sydney, third in Las Vegas, and most recently second in Japan, being defeated by current series leader, New Zealand, in a heart breaking last minute loss.

“The HSBC Women’s Sevens will deliver a weekend of world class sport and entertainment and simultaneously serve to inspire young up-and-coming players by getting close to the action – and the players – throughout the weekend,” said Allen Vansen, Rugby Canada CEO.  “We are particularly proud of the Canadian women’s team, who amid a demanding competitive season, are showing their commitment to the development of their sport.  By getting behind KidSport as a team and collectively encouraging fans to support the charity through the purchase of tournament passes, they are contributing to rugby sevens youth development in a region that has been a huge supporter of our players and our programs.”

Jill Shaw, Executive Director of KidSport Greater Victoria mentioned “We are thrilled to be receiving support from the Canadian Women’s Rugby Sevens team, and the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens tournament and we’d like to thank everyone who is contributing to our shared goal of ensuring that sport and physical activity be available to as many children as possible.”

In addition to the KidSport fundraising initiative, Canada’s Women’s Sevens team will also be offering a free youth clinic for girls in grades 8-12 on Sunday, April 30th from 9-12  with the matches played at Westhills Stadium – all skill levels are welcome.
