While the Giants host the Bruins in the 7th of 10 season meetings this year, they pull out all stops and honor Milan Lucic as one of the best Giant players to ever play in the  system for them.

This is the final bobble-head night of the season for the Giants and some say they might have saved the best for last.

Former Memorial Cup MVP and current Boston Bruins forward for his hard work in the two full seasons he played with the Giants. Milan played 175 games, scored 49 goals and added 64 assists for a total of 113 points.

In addition he earned 247 penalty minutes. Milan is a young 22 and also won a WHL Championship in 2006 and the Memorial Cup in 07.

Milan stands 6’4″ and has a frame that is a solid 220 lbs. He was born June 7th, 1988. He was drafted in the second round, 50th over in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

He played his Junior B for the Delta Ice hawks and managed to play in the BCHL for the Coquitlam Express in 2004-05 managing 9 goals, 14 assists in 50 games, plus 100 PIM’s.

The Giants tribute was special where they gave him a photo of his day’s as a Giant. I remember the opportunity I had to conduct an interview with Milan last June in Ladner, where some of the Giant players were “goofing around” and he was in the middle of it, having as much fun as anyone of them.

In recent conversation with Giant’s color person, Bill Wilms he told me “I remember in Tri-City when he got his 8th, 9th and 10th goal. I said on the broadcast he would go on to be a 30 goal scorer”.

He continued “following the Memorial Cup game he thanked me for building his confidence when I mentioned that”.
Great to see – considering he in now a sound member of Boston.

His 26 goals are the most by a Bruin since the 2008-09 season, as Marco Sturm led the team in goals with 22 in 2009-10.

Has eight multiple-point games, including his second career hat trick scored Nov. 18 vs. Florida with the final two goals scored in a 15-second span in the third period.

He played his 200th NHL game Oct. 9 against Phoenix.

He recorded his 100th NHL point with a goal Nov. 10 in Pittsburgh.
