Now I am not much of a movie “buff” but I hear that the 1981 movie Road Warriors (AKA Mad Max) starring Mel Gibson and Virginia Hey was decent and by all extent engaging.

The recent road-trip for the Eagles could be explained in somewhat the same manner, but the exception of the outcome.

Following a rough start to the second-half of the season, the Eagles were re-focused, re-vamped and ready to take on the world.

First stop on the two-game road trip was Friday 13th in West Kelowna where the Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one and outshooting the Eagles by a narrow 10-7 margin.

Surrey’s Nick Fea returned the favor getting one of his own at 16:12 of the mid stanza only to be followed by a Warrior goal a minute later allowing Kelowna to take a 4-1 lead to the room after two.

McAvoy notched one early in the third only to be followed by a late marker by Kelowna’ Quin Foreman at 17:49 giving the Warriors a commanding lead and eventual 5-2 victory.

Next stop the following night in Trail, home of Ray Ferraro and Adam Deadmarsh to name two.

The town “oozes” with talent of young players of all ages and being from “small-town Canada” and apparently developing hockey players is a priority and with 1,361 attending the game they wanted to put on a show.

The Eagles started Davidson between the pipes and eventually sent in GVC “tender” Lukas Shaw midway through the first, while Trail went with Marshall.

Chaulk it up to a rough outing or simply weather conditions, this game was one that everyone would like to simply forget.

Trail jumped out to an early and I do mean early start as the first one came a short 12 seconds in with Caton getting the first only to be followed by the second 51 seconds into the game.

Within the first two minutes the game seemed to be realistic as Surrey notched one in at 1:51 with Davidson getting his 24th of the season.

Trail continued their aggressive start and not only was the goal scoring interesting, so were the amount of penalties assessed by Referee’s Ross McDonnell and Mike Boisvert.

The first ended with Trail taking a 7-2 lead to the dressing room as well as outshooting the Eagles by a 17-6 margin.

The second was again all but friendly for the Eagles as Trail managed to put another five on the scoreboard, while the Eagles could only get one past Marshall sending Trail to the dressing room leading by a 12-3 difference.

As aggressive as the Eagles played they were no match to Trail as they were again outshot by a 13-11 difference and outscored by a difference of 7-0.

The end result saw the Eagles drop one of the most difficult games of the season, by a 19-3 difference and being out-shot by 43-31, which by all accounts isn’t all that bad.

This night saw Davidson play 40:37 allowing 14 goals, while Shaw played 19:23 allowing 5 goals against.

While the Mad Max movie was also set in a small town it also had a theme and imagination, this game left nothing to anyone’s imagination other than write a better script – at least for the return game!!
