Neil Manning Commits To UBC

Vancouver Giants 20 year-old D-man Neil Manning has committed to attend UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
Manning will also play for the T-birds Hockey Team coached by former Giants Head Coach Milan Dragicevic. Manning stated “I am so excited to start a new chapter in life, both on and off the ice.
UBC has a world-class business program, brand new facilities from the 2010 Olympics, and is building a hockey team that can compete with the top schools in Canada. He continued “I’m thrilled to be staying here in Vancouver, a city I have really grown to love.
I would like to thank the Giants ownership, staff and fans for everything they have done for me over the last five years”.
Manning joins former Giants team-mate Kraymer Barnstable (goaltender) on the roster in addition to following several other Giants that have joined the T-Birds organization.
Those include John Flatters and Mitch Bartley. Neil leaves the Giants as the first player to complete a full 5-year stint with the team, having first suited up during the Giants’ Memorial Cup Championship season of 2006/07.
He holds the team record for Career Games Played (310) and sits 4th all-time in Career Power Play Goals (35).For every season played in the Western Hockey League, players earn a 1-year guaranteed scholarship to the post-secondary institution of their choice, including tuition, textbooks and compulsory fees. Many others have to rely upon refinancing options (like https://www.sofi.com/refinance-student-loan/) to help them afford to get through their education, so this scholarship was no doubt a great boost to him.
All the WHL clubs combine to act as the leading supplier of hockey scholarships in Western Canada and have managed to amass over 200 WHL Scholarships each year for over 200 players.
Thanks to Peter Toigo Vice President, Operations for the Vancouver Giants for the release.
