You start or begin a job or a new position with a firm or sports organization and you only focus on the now, not the end of your impressive run.

Regardless of the sport everyone reaches the day when it’s time to call it quits and one such individual is PGA Rour Commissioner Tim Finchem.

tim-and-tigerHe has made it official and stated that he will officially retire at the end of the year as PGA Tour commissioner.

He was in that roule for over than two decades that saw the tour grow around the world.

This has increased the overall awareness of the sport to young and old alike.

The tour has seen the prize money grow to nearly $300 million dollars, so one would think it would be hard to find a replacement.

In accepting his (Finchem) resignation the PGA Tour unanimously approved Jay Monahan as his replacement to fill his shoes on and off the “green”

Monahan served as Finchem’s Deputy Commissioner since April 2014 and becomes only the fourth commissioner effective January 1st/2017.

Finchem mentioned the following to the media “I have the highest regard for Jay and have total confidence in his ability to lead the PGA Tour well into the future.”

He continued “He has been a key member of the executive team since joining the tour and has worked closely with me on all business matters since becoming Deputy Commissionerpga-logo and I know he will do a tremendousjob for the players and all constituents of the PGA Tour.”

The final quarterly board meeting for the 2016 year was recently held and he (Finchem) indicated he would not seek another extension.

Wishing him all the best on his retirement.
