15 Year Old Lydia Ko Win’s LPGA

The LPGA comes to a final and the Cinderella story closes with and ending that no one would have expected at the start of the week.

A young 15 year old from New Zealand upset many of the World’s top Pro’s to take the title in exceptional fashion.

No one really knows if it’s hit home yet, but in all accounts, she is pleased to have the pressure off.

Her caddy Brian Alexander who plays this course on a regular basis and plays on the senior circuit in the Province say’s “she has class and listens to every word or idea told to her.

She will go a long way and as a 15 year-old she will succeed in anything she wants to do in life and this will change how she see’s the world – starting tomorrow”.

She wore a red top and was told to change from what she wore yesterday as her Aunt called her and told her “she looked too dark in the outfit she wore yesterday on the course”.

She also mentioned that is the “same colour that Tiger wore on the course the other day” Evidently a supporter of Tiger!

Coming into this event she had her sights set on learning and improving on all aspects of the game, which she has down.

The toughest part of her game was on hole #7, not just on the final day, but each day she was on the course. Brian mentioned to her “just relax and don’t let it bother you.

Hit and put the way you can and you’ll do just fine”. She listened and had a final round of 67 to capture the title in fine fashion.

Tomorrow she fly’s to Korea and this will be her first time back since she left ten years ago at the young age of five.

She doesn’t know what to expect, but she plans on spending some time shopping, but not necessarily for clothes,

She plans on going out for supper with her Caddy Brian and his Wife along with her Mother and two friends from New Zealand.

They (friends from NZ) followed her around and extended a planned holiday to watch her golf and cheer her on, which was a good thing.

Sometimes motivation goes a long way and when you have fans saying “go Kiwi” it can’t hurt. During the media conference it was stated “that this is a historic day on the LPGA tour.

Interesting that when she finished the last hole, the announcement was made that the presentations would be in five minutes. She left un-noticed and went behind everyone and got a piece of paper as she wanted to write things do, so she wold not forget anyone as to who to thank.

Pure class – from a 15 year old!!!

With your victory you become the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history by more than 16 months.  Last year Lexi Thompson was the youngest winner in September at the Navistar LPGA Classic at the age of 16.  You’re 15.

Tell us how it feels”? Ko told the media “It feels amazing, and I broke the youngest record in January for the New South Wales Open and to break another record or being in the history, it’s amazing, and it’s always awesome to be able to play with the pros.

Having the chance to talk to her in person was a real pleasure and remember the name “Ko” cause you’ll hear it years to come.

Special thanks to Golf Canada and those working the media tent on being professional for any request we asked for.
