Concussion’s??

Given the recent concern that have surrounded the non-playing day’s of Sidney Crosby, but recently returned to the ice in dramatic fashion, questions about a concussion is front and centre.
I am told that there are two types of concussions that can act or re-act on anyone.
These are (I am told) linear concussion and a rotational concussion, so really what is the difference and how do the take shape?
Presently there are two extreme forces that can cause a concussion.
Upon further checking and getting information from my many sources, I was sent the following info from a great site you should have a look at.
Thanks to www.sirc.ca them for the info
The first is called a rotational force and an acceleration-deceleration type of force also known as linear force.
When a person suffers a concussion, the brain suddenly shifts or shakes inside the skull and can knock against the skull’s bony surface.

Signs and symptoms Signs and Symptoms of a mild brain injury or even a concussion can show up right after the injury, or they may not appear until days or even weeks afterward.

Concussion symptoms can include one or all of the following:

Headaches Weakness Numbness Confusion Nausea Decreased co-ordination and/or balance Vomiting or Slurred Speech.

Sometimes people complain of “just not feeling like themselves.” If you or a loved one notices any of these symptoms, you should seek some form of medical attention immediately. LINEAR FORCE:

A hard hit to the body can result in an acceleration-deceleration (linear force) injury when the brain brushes against bony protuberances inside the skull.

ROTATIONAL FORCE:

Such forces can also result in a rotational injury in which the brain twists, potentially causing shearing of the brain nerve fibres.
Rotational forces can be the most damaging during concussion and is thought to be the largest factor in severity of concussion.
The brief loss of consciousness that can characterize concussion also appears to be the result of these rotational forces.
In most cases of concussion there is both a linear and a rotational acceleration present.
Due to their long term implications all cases of suspected concussion should be evaluated by a medical health professional. Someone being diagnosed with a concussion will have to go through the right treatment in case it left an injury afterwards, their doctor will refer them to a concussion recovery specialist to help them recover from their head damage.
SIRC has compiled a variety of resources on this topic where you will find everything from research articles to assessment tools to youth videos and organizations involved with concussion education. If you’ve been in a car accident recently and have a concussion because of it or worse. It might a good idea to get legal representation. My friend recommends brain injury lawyers in Birmingham they were so fantastically helpful in their legal dispute.
