Scorers Nightmare!!!

The C’s return to Scotiabank Field following an 11 inning outing on the previous night on a walk-off giving them a 7-6 win in front of 4,191 fans.

While the game was long for some, it took over three and a half hours to play and given the eight game road trip they faced, this is a bonus for the home town fans.

Prior to the start of the game all 4,193 fans and the Canadian’s paid tribute to Rick Rypien to the former Canuck that lost his life on the previous day. Classy move for the Canadian’s!

The first part of July the C’s needed a win to clinch the NWL West first-half title also against Salem-Keizer, but “ton’s” of error’s cost them the chance at a post-season for the first-half.

The C’s have five born Canadian-born players on the roster, which include tonight’s RHP Zack Breault. C’s skipper John Schneider was given a leave of absence for personal Family matters, which was easily given by the club.

As for roster moves (on the field) the C;s added IF Andy Burns, while 3rd base Balbino Fuenmayor is out of the line-up after having a pitch hit his helmet in Yakima. Berti also remains out due to a hamstring injury.

The bottom of the 4th saw Patterson hit a long ball up the “gap” to Left Center scoring one run, placing him (Patterson) on 2nd.

McQuail hammered a long-ball to RF for a sac-hit moving Patterson to 3rd with one out. Burns got called out on a third strike, dropped, but saw him run to first, but tagged out.

Bottom of the 5th saw the Umpire JJ January dropped by a pitch on the throat and had him out for a while, then attended by the C’s medic.

An extended break gave the grounds-crew extra time between inning’s, but it mostly helped the Ump.

Keizer’s Galindo get’s first then steal’s 2nd with a great run. He is looking at breaking the steal record for the Volcanoes which is set at 51 and was set in 1997. Galindo again steals 3rd, then scores to tie the game at one in the 6th.

Krill hammers the ball to the warning track at CF allowing the game to be tied.

C’s have Brown in the bull-pen warning up, while Murray takes a walk, for two on. Pitching coach steps on the mound to discuss the runners on base.

Interesting to know that the first three inning’s took 37 minutes, while the next three took 1:07 to play. Top of 7th saw a foul-ball hit the press-box window, which shocked many media on hand.

Top of seven had a hit to the field and a throw to 3rd, which was out of play. The runner on third was tagged out at home and the runner going to third was called safe.

The base ump called the play dead, to allow the runner going to third the extra base to score one run. The initial runner was out and the inning continued.

This followed by an overthrow to home, seeing the pitcher cover home and tag the runner out by the home ump.

This play was clearly safe at home as the runner had his hand on the home plate, which was missed causing both Managers to come out of the dug-out. Top of 8th has Salem up 2-1.

Salem has two on base and a long hit to deep CF saw Jones make a running dive making the catch for the third out.

Berti scores on a base-hit to shallow CF giving them two runners on the night, leaving one runner on base.

This inning has seen a walk, two runs, a balk and a pitching change for the C’s seeing Eic Brown from Thunderbay take the mound.

Brown was a 50th round draft choice this year and played at UBC stands 6’2″ and 185 lbs and is a young 22 years old.

Top of nine see’s the C’s down 5-2 with no additional chance of getting any runs.

Garret get’s the loss for the C’s and Graham get’s the win with the save to Hall.

The boy’s have a short night as tomorrow’s game is set for a 1:05 first pitch. Game time was 2:52
