Canada Day Special For C’s

The C’s took in Canada Day early all in part due to a trio of Canadian born players who took to the field at Scotia Bank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Some say the best part is when the game is over and those on hand watch the fireworks.

Randy Schwartz calls kleinburg Ontario home in the off-season and nailed his first home run of the season in the fifth inning to tie the game at one and all 5, 157 fans got a chance to take home a coupon for an A&W Drink and Burger.

The C’s Manager saw the need to make a couple of pitching change’s allowing Langley’s RHP Brandon Kaye to step to the mound making the family proud of his accomplishments.

He became the first former UBC Thunderbird to pitch for the C’s. He also threw a scoreless frame to allow the C’s to preserve the one-run lead.

Following this impressive start another UBC alum, Eric Brown followed this and struck out two fo the three hitters he faced in the eighth inning.
This appearance by Kaye and Brown marks the first time in Canadian’s Class A Short Season history that former UBC players have pitched for the C’s at the Nat.

The game on Canada Day see’s the C’s again host Eugene and currently the C’s have a record of 11-3 and are currently one game behind Eugene with a % of .786.

C’s start quick managing to get on run on a hit to RF scoring one run, only to be followed by a single up the middle scoring Gaedele to tie the game at one.

Saturday’s game features the Super Stars of Summer and those at the game get a chance to see Kelly Gruber throw out the first pitch.

The sweater’s worn by the C’s on this day will be auctioned off and given out on July 2nd. Schwartz hit to first and managed to get on base he drew the 1st basemen off the bag.

Try as they might, the C’s had a hard time getting any breaks crossing home plate and with no wind in the field, it was difficult to grab a hit.
