ANTHOPOULOS Visits “The Nat”

In conversation with Alex he stated “the Jay’s are pleased with the first season the C’s have had being the Single A team and they have reached all expectations by the parent club”

The press conference was held in the club house for the C’s and for a short 15 minutes he had the attention of the attending media on hand, which included Terry Bell (Province), Elliott Papp (Sun) and Brandon Bachelor of the Team 1040.

The C’s sent Aaron Sanchez to the mound who is the highest drafted Blue Jay player to have played for the C’s. He has an ERA of 27.00 and has pitched 1.2 innings with 9 AB. His counter part on the mound is Chris Jensen (RHP) who has an ERA of 3.20 and pitched 25.1 innings with 90 AB.

Led by the solid pitching of (RHP) Aaron Sanchez and a two-run double by LF Steve McQuail, the Canadians were in position to complete a five-game sweep, taking a 4-2 advantage into the final two innings.

In previous games for the C’s Kevin Patterson had a triple and managed to extend his hitting streak to 13 games?

Steve McQuail hit his second home run in the last four games while Ben White managed his first win of the summer with five innings of one-hit ball.

The C’s have five consecutive wins and are back in the hunt for the second-half pennant.

The top of the 3rd saw Massey hit to deep CF scoring one run placing him on first.

The first three innings took a short 39 minutes to play.

Three runs by the Tri-City Dust Devils with two outs in the top of the 8th inning proved to be the difference as the Vancouver Canadians fell 6-4 in front of a sellout crowd of 5,157 at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

But with two outs in the top of the 8th inning, RHP Bryan Longpre walked back-to-back hitters, before Jayson Langfels delivered a two-run triple off of (RHP) Drew Permison to tie the game 4-4. An error by Jon Berti allowed Langfels to score the go-ahead run.

It was just the third time the Dust Devils had a lead the entire series.

The Dust Devils added a run in the top of the 9th inning to make the final score 6-4.RHP Aaron Sanchez, making his second start in a C’s uniform, allowed two hits and one run with five strikeouts in five dominant innings for Vancouver.

The sellout crowd of 5,157 marked the eighth straight contest that the C’s have sold out a game at Scotiabank Field. The C’s head onto the road for their final five games of the regular season in Boise, ID.
