The British Columbia Hockey League is pleased to announce its FortisBC Energy Players of the Year with Chilliwack Chiefs forward Andrew Silard earning the regular-season recognition and Vernon Vipers forward Colton Sparrow taking it for the playoffs.
Throughout the 2013-14 campaign and in the postseason, in addition to the 3 Stars, one player was recognized each game for his hard work on the ice with the FortisBC Energy Player of the Game nod.
Silard and Sparrow are this year’s winning players with the BCHL season concluded and the playoff tally added up.
Silard spent his first and only BCHL season with the Chiefs, tallying 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points in 56 games.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward was named the FortisBC Energy Player of the Game on nine occasions in the regular season.
The Greenwich, Conn. product also chalked up 54 penalty minutes.
Sparrow, a hometown Vernon product who has played all four BCHL seasons with the Vipers, had 11 goals and 23 assists in 50 regular season games to go with 49 penalty minutes.
He came alive in the playoffs, helping the Vipers to the BCHL Finals by leading them in postseason scoring with eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points.
